I walk through Pacific Heights every chance I get. Mostly on an early Sunday morning – I climb up and down the hills and walk from one end of the city to the other end through the prestigious neighborhood in my city. Mostly admiring the exterior of every single home perched along the avenues. Not only the style of homes are a great conversation piece while getting a pretty good workout, but they are also an inspiration for anyone needing to escape the norm or planning on renovating their home. For me, I always wonder what the inside looks like, or which designer created their work of art in terms of decor. There is a design store in San Francisco, Restoration Hardware, which took a huge leap a couple of years ago to revamping their style into sort of a weathered European look. Very classic antique style furniture, upholstery and linen adorning their every store. I’ve admired their efforts since then and I visit the headquarter, and various retail stores every chance I get, to feel inspired by their choice of color, and perfectly designed pieces. I’ve been working with roofers, painters, and landscape artists for months, trying to revamp our family home. And because of this project, I have been to Benjamin Moore paint store more times than I want to admit, and visited countless Plant Nursery stores, although the later I absolutely consider therapy, the paint store exercise has stressed me out to no end. Because what you see on a paper swatch and adore, sometimes isn’t the true colors on the walls. Just so you understand I’ve been going back and forth between gray and all sorts of neutrals for the base with a creamy trim and I have come dead-stop at the front door. I have to be honest, I see a film and think – I want a room just like that, or a house in that order and although some of the home decor listed here are ones I admired over the years, I have to admit, the home/set decor in Mr.& Mrs. Smith is also right up there as well as A Good Year, in terms of getting inspired.
