Right about now, while freezing in San Francisco, I crave tropical. And naturally begin my typical research for somewhere to escape. Recently, well, maybe a month or so ago, I saw a film on Netflix that was not only entertaining and funny, but it was filmed in the Canary Islands. Somewhere I’d never been before. I love when a movie delights me – in terms of decor and location. The last time I was this intrigued was when I saw ONLY YOU with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. which was filmed in when it was filmed all throughout Italy. Anyway, so because of the film, I did some digging for tourist information and without any more babbling, here are some facts – just in case you are looking for that perfect Honeymoon or anniversary celebration destination: High Season (Dec–Apr & Jul–Aug) Coincides with Christmas, carnival season and Easter Accommodation prices are highest in January and February Mid-summer is holiday time on the Spanish mainland, so expect more tourists July and August are the …

I’m always researching a move to Europe. Aiming to someday retire in any number of countries. My research is pretty extensive and hopefully well projected and planned. So, if you are also thinking or wishing or in the beginning stages of planning and don’t really know where and when – you might be swayed by this list of cheapest countries to live around the world – in which I am glad Armenia – the hidden gem – made it to the list.
One thing I do while travelling within the US, is see if I could detect which architect designed a building, a house, or even a monumental structure of sorts. Mostly in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, I do lots of searching for that unique style – a structure or dwelling that stands out above the rest. In line with this topic, I found this interesting article about one of my favorite – Frank Lloyd Wright – an illustrated guide to his work. Who’s your favorite architect?
I know we don’t agree on most everything these days and trying to share any thoughts or ideas about anything out there is becoming more challenging I feel. Compelling me to ponder over the topics I want to bring up, thinking all of it has to be diplomatic and well thought out. You know, sort of making sure I don’t offend, nor downgrade anything or anyone. At times I even delete a topic I truly want to discuss just because, it is probably best. I don’t know if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but it is what it is right now in this less-than-optimistic world we’ve churned out. With that said, I often times dabble in topics, sharing with all of you what sparks my interest and from that you can decide what you want to do with it :). Like these: [couple photo source]
words in quote by Audrey Hephburn, is probably the best way to sum up why I can never stay away from Paris. We took the Eurostar from London and in three hours arrived in the heart of the city to spend four glorious days revisiting most everything we had done before. At first, the weather app indicated much rain so we spent an hour on the train deciding what we would do each day and even each hour to avoid getting soooo wet. But lucky for us the skies cleared up and the sun came out and the rest was a memorable history:
Even in this e-this and that age, I still prefer bound books, stacked on a shelf somewhere in the house, giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling all over (yes I’m aware of the cliche) But I know you understand what I mean – especially those who enjoy reading as much as I do. Anyway, recently a friend asked me how to turn one of her spare bedrooms into her library where she intends to place just one comfy chair and a lamp, she says so she could just escape. The ideas I shared with her are the following:
I can’t recall a time where I’ve had a peaceful night’s sleep. Meaning to say that I stay up most nights pondering about everything most definitely out of my control, and then I talk myself into just letting go. I think it’s a survival mechanism. Note to self: Perhaps I need to scale back on social media, it may help a little. But for now, I can’t help but wonder what if…. The US president’s conduct, which the majority don’t agree with is a ploy to get everyone to become more patriotic and more involved in our country? Social media were to shut down on Sundays so that everyone can do all things that make them less angry at every single word published online which has fueled such behaviors lately. Religion was more important than anything else to live a more positive life? What if compassion replaced greed? History and current event teachings in schools were not based on one-sided opinions? What if there was no bullying – ever? What if WORLD PEACE was stitched unto every flag of …
I love this article, which offers up some easy ideas to make what I call a universal New Year resolution/challenge if you will. I am excited since all the suggestions are totally doable. Except perhaps the cutting down on the sugar part – which I am working on finding ways to do just that. For that stay tuned. Otherwise, let do this thing together!
