small but meaningful gifts and a holiday cocktail

Right about now, I have a pretty good idea of the small but meaningful gifts I want to give my friends and family acquaintances  So, what I do normally do, especially on a rainy, stormy Friday, Saturday evening, is make a cocktail that I found online (a new one each year), turn on the holiday tunes and organize all of the fun gifts to wrap, creatively I might add. I don’t do traditional store-bought holiday wraps. Here’s a glimpse:

already december and the holidays

It’s already December. I could ask the question – where has the year gone? But I won’t. I know exactly where it’s gone and how strange of a year it’s been. Truth be told I can’t wait until it’s over. I’m very ready for 2015 and the opportunity to reset my life, and maybe be a little more selfish and focus on my needs over those around me. Until then, I’m keeping inspired with holiday decor, and all things leading to Christmas and the New Year. {source}

new years cocktail and an inspiring outfit

I consider New Year’s Eve festivities sexy, as long as it’s done right. With that concept, I have decided to duplicate the following ensemble with a twist of course for this years celebration, since it’s just a less -than-formal get together with close friends: Here’s what I envision instead: With that said, here’s my choice of cocktail for this year’s New Year’s Eve gathering: What’s your plans and do share your cocktail of choice.

san francisco gem: the ferry building

I love it when friends show up in town unannounced and beg to spend a day with you.  I really mean it, I do love it, even though it throws me pleasantly off schedule (If that makes sense). Anyway, I got the word my friends were in town at ten in the morning and asked them to meet me at the end of Market Street at noon for lunch.  When I asked, what they wanted to eat, they mentioned Sandwich shops and fast food and I basically rolled my eyes. I pointed to the Ferry Building and asked if they had been there and they both shook their heads NO and so we ventured into one of our proudest conversion of a historic building into an amazing waterfront hangout.

champagne cocktails for new year’s eve 2012

To be honest with you, I don’t need any excuse to drink champagne, but for New Year’s Eve parties, I simply go crazy with the varieties of cocktails incorporating the bubbly. Here’s a hint I read which makes sense and will surely keep in mind, while my friends and I stir up the cocktails: “When making any cocktail with Champagne, be sure to add the Champagne to the flute last. Pour the Champagne slowly over the other ingredients to avoid an overflow. Stirring these cocktails is not usually necessary as the bubbles do most of the work, but when you do, stir slowly and gently. For the best results serve Champagne cocktails right away.” Click here for a variety of recipes for champagne cocktail and just so you know, my top pick for New Year’s Eve 2012 – Elite Midnight Millionaire Cocktail: Ingredients: 1 oz Stoli Elit Perrier Jouët Fleur de Champagne rasberry for garnish Preparation: Pour the vodka into a Champagne flute. Fill with Champagne. Drop a single raspberry in the glass as a garnish.
