Decor: Appreciating Architecture

Today I feel  the need to share some of my favorite finds on architecture, design and decor since I’m itching to renovate, revamp, recreate a living space somewhere in our home. Don’t you just love before and after photos of a first time home where you have the vision to create the best of living space for you and your hubs, but he doesn’t see the potential?

Decor: Simply Chic For Those Craving Coastal Living

My home decor is very earthy and peaceful. I live near the coast in San Francisco so my aim was to embrace the weather in the city, foggy mornings, with a touch of sun peaking through, all blended across the skies and reflected against the changing hues of the Pacific Ocean, some greenery inserted along the avenues, and mountains to the right establish the prefect of parameters.  I don’t imagine trading my view for much of anything else. I feel boxed in when venturing inland, because the coast gives me infinite tranquility I so need to calm all the anxiety I feel on a daily basis. Coming home from a long day of whatever else, is the best feeling, especially on a clear day, where each sunset is determined by the mood of Mother Nature. When I saw this simple decor, I had to share – because, really, who needs anything more?

Decor: For the Detail Oriented

There was a period in my life – a decade ago, where I would visit new home sites around California just to get a glimpse in person, the best of shabby chic with a twist to Roman or Venetian  style decor choice used for all the model mansions border lining villas. They made it easy, near seamless, putting the collection of furnishings together to create the illusion the buyers all needed to have, to sign the dotted line. I grew out of that phase  – and now prefer to create my own whimsical, with a touch of modern flare. But that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the finer decor details in this beauty of a mansion and from it take a few details to add to my lifestyle. Enjoy!

Decor: Simple Walk-in Shower Design

Besides being extremely clean, the shower should ideally be an inviting space  – where one can simply exist for just a few minutes as if there isn’t a care in the world. My favorite experience under the best shower was in Bern Switzerland, in a five-star property – where the emphasis of the entire bathroom was the walk in for five 🙂 shower with dimming lights, a state of the art shower head, and side streamers, and other bells and whistles – I still think about it.  In light of that fond memory, I have included some wonderfully designed shower spaces just in case you are in the process of a remodel:

Decor: Black and White

Bathrooms and hallways, and kitchens are the best places for black and white decor – but the for the sake of this article, we are only sharing a handful of black and white bathrooms – which by the way was a theme in my home for over five years – a black and white bathroom master bathroom: Although, if you think outside the box, you can consider the variations – say…in your kitchen as well. 🙂

Decor: Ideas From Luxury Hotel

Let’s face it – you walk into a hotel room and your jaw drops – seeing the perfect decor just as the one you saw online, naturally setting the tone for your travels (hopefully in a good way) 🙂 When I was in my twenties, I often times chose a basic hotel, reasonably priced near the train stations since I was not only on a tight budget, but chose to stay only a day or two  in each city to maximize my month long vacation. Meaning, being near the train station help facilitate my crazy itinerary.  The interesting thing is, the more I travel throughout Europe,  the more I notice the hotels nearing the train stations have done an amazing job renovating their properties – not only their location most ideal still for me to this day, but the ambiance worth every penny. Okay, so with that little bit of intro, I love this article about stealing decorating ideas from hotels – which I do all the time.
