Around The World: Beautiful Metro Stations

It’s sad to admit, San Francisco does not have the best looking metro stations. They are simple, functional and in my opinion outdated. I guess that will change when the new T line is finished which will connect the AT&T Ball Bark, Union Square to Chinatown. Until then I am in awe over these beautiful Metro stations from around the world. See article here.

As I walk by an abandoned building in San Francisco, I feel a sense of sadness that someone thought it was good to simply walk away and leave the structure in shambles. I literally find myself apologizing and wishing I could get the place restored to its old glory and do something useful with it. Usually around this time of the year I stop searching online for all things travel. No wait, let me clarify. I am usually on a plane on a three-week vacation somewhere. But as I stated before I shifted my holidays/vacation/personal time off from  the normal September/October annually to early May. Hence, the constant click here and there for all things travel. There Is This Show – Velvet – From Spain

I am always fascinated withthe 1950s-1960s fashion. I think the whole pencil skirt, A-line dresses, form-fitting jackets, red lipstick, perfect colored stockings and the best shoes, most of the fashion to this day appreciated and  incorporated here and there. I love it when I see a period film perfectly detailing the fashion for  the period (50-60s) and  I think for me Mad Men was the best until just recently I discovered Velvet, a soap opera from Spain. The show is pretty cheesy, in a funny and cute sort of way, and I have grown to love all of the actors passing through, or staying on so far in Season 2 on Netflix. Also perks on brushing up on my Spanish of course. But what I love the most is the show is based on a department store in Spain competing with the likes of Dior and Chanel, introducing to us the best of fashion, haute couture anyone can wish for or imagine.  I love it when a show gets it right in costumes and in Velvet’s case, set decor as …

friday’s five interesting finds online – vol. 2

We are definitely on information overload. So much so, that we can’t keep up with everything we see, read, or even consider learning from things popping up, flashing, and rotating on the computer screen anytime we log in to get online. This week, these five things stuck in my mind: 1. A Ghost town in suburban Paris. The story of how an airport was forced to buy a town by a decree, and was instructed to upkeep it. Every year around the holidays, I feel a bit down. I suppose it’s a number of things, weather, the end of another year, new revelations, reflections, regrets, you name it, I feel it. Sorry to bring you down, but let’s face the facts, most of us feel the same. Anyway, I turn to the past usually, the good old days, simpler times, in music, in film, it photographs and in writings to get me through. It’s been a while since I’ve suggested a boutique hotel – a blog entry I’ve put aside for a while, focusing on other topics instead. But since I am an avid traveler, always longing to get on a plane to go somewhere, at times more or less on a whim, I decided to bring this popular entry back, even throughout the off-season in travel. The city of Bruges, in Belgium came to mind recently since I normally crave to be in a storybook type of place in the winter months, hibernating in a room with character, a fireplace if possible, hot tea at my disposal, the ambiance exuding enough energy to inspire me to write at the very least, the romance portion of my novels. In Bruges, I would stay in Relais and Chateaux Hotel Heritage, and although there isn’t a fireplace in the rooms, the character and charm of each space make it a wonderful destination for romance I could go on forever, detailing bits and pieces of information about this romantic town, but …
