five friday finds just because

My mind wanders in different directions, every second of every day. One minute I’m wondering what we’ll have for dinner and the next, I’m writing out in my head an entire plot for my next novel. This is of course in between, juggling finances and functioning just in general. So, I thought it would be fun to share, five finds all in one blog, based on whats going through my head.  Hope you enjoy, if not have a great weekend anyway. my first novel – piazza navona

I hesitated posting a blog entry today, which I do on occasion, while thinking about the topic and then I walked into my office this morning to discover that my first novel hit Amazon Kindle  and is in queue to become available through other e-book means: iBookstore, Sony, Barnes and Nobles, Kobo, Copia, Gardners, Page Pushers and more. My first reaction of course was that I was shocked and happy and then immediately got embarrassed for the fact, people I knew were going to read my book. 🙂 Strange, very scary and at the same time invigorating. I am proud. Very happy and a little emotional. Whatever this book does in sales, I have one thing to say. I achieved a goal I set for myself and fulfilled a dream. Now I can smile every single day, for the rest of my life.

having paris withdrawals

While Tuesday was the first actual cold day in San Francisco. Let me clarify, Fall cold, because technically our summers are cold too. Anyway, while yesterday we got a taste of bitter cold, I couldn’t help but check the weather for Paris – something I crazily do on a daily basis to compare. It showed the same temperatures as we had in San Francisco. low 50s to cool 70s (F), throughout the day and I have to say, I smiled.  Although the two cities are often compared in so many ways, all I ever see are all the difference, favoring Paris all the way. Trivial you might say for this blog entry. I suppose. But just the thought of Paris makes me smile, any time of the year and I needed to express that right about now.

holiday party dress on a shoestring

 I know you may think it’s too early to shop for party dresses for the impending holiday season, but in all reality it’s just around the corner.  Company events, cocktail parties, get together(s) and even weddings – in less than a month away. . So, it’s not that early. The benefit of shopping now is to, save yourself from the agony of looking for something in your size, reasonably prices and versatile.  I always go black and on occasion, I shift my choice to very subtle colors or a pop of red.  Nordstrom is promoting their holiday dresses at the moment by means of email blast and since I happen to be on their list, I got a first (or not) look at their inventory and here are my picks for the perfectly priced party dress.

a nostalgic october

October was never my favorite month and for the longest time I looked at it as a time of year getting closer to winter, the colder weather, the shorter days. But in the past two or three years, I’ve embraced the month for more reasons than I care to list here; foremost because of the changing of the leaves. The only trouble is, San Francisco doesn’t experience such a transition since most of the trees planted are evergreen. So as always I long to travel East to Vermont or Canada just so I could get a glimpse of this: {photo reference click here}

thoughts on vacations

When I plan my annual trip, privately, and once confirmed send a global message to my co-workers announcing that I’ll be out of the office, some frown upon the fact, that I choose to travel. Although I respect their opinion, I cannot for the life of me understand how they go an entire year, without taking a single day off from work other than the usual weekends and company sponsored holidays. The ten days I spend away from the norm, not only revives my soul, it helps me think, plan and make a list of goals I would like to accomplish in the upcoming year. Not to mention the fact, gives me the courage to push for what I really want out of life. Call me crazy, but how do people go on, bypassing any type of vacation and saving their earned time off for a rainy day instead? On my last and only day in Paris to catch a flight back to the U.S. the sun came out miraculously from a week or more …
