Lifestyle: Golden Globe Wrap

The interesting thing about the Golden Globe’s nominees and winner, it often times sets the tone for how the Oscars will pan out. Although there have been many surprises over the years, with the shift from the winners at the Golden Globe and the surprise winners at the Oscars. But this year’s winner did not surprise me as I am one who appreciates a stand out performance from all the normal or expected contenders. The flip side to this concept, is that each actor nominated or not, I believe does make  a conscious effort to give their best to portray the characters they have agreed to take on. So, with these awards choosing the best of the best is difficult in the world of the arts. It may work in sports, but I feel the arts should not be compared or measured against the past.

But what do I know.

So here are the highlights for me:

The cutest onscreen couple – MARIN HINKLE AND TONY SHALHOUB From the best television series currently – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel posing for a red carpet pic

Lady Gaga wearing an on-point Tiffany necklace –

Yvonne Strahovski – au natural makeup and hair – I am all about natural

Age is nothing but a number for Michelle Yeoh at 56 – flawless in every way

Dakota Fanning’s red lipstick choice for her beautifully winter princess ensemble

cutest real life couple – Emily Blunt and John Krasinski

And the list of winners –

Best Motion Picture – Drama – Bohemian Rhapsody – not a surprise

Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy – Green Book story is outstanding and an understandable winner for this category. But I was secretly hoping for Mary Poppins.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama Glenn Close (“The Wife”) *WINNER
The film is fascinating and one I highly recommend – but all the women nominated for this category deserve a standing ovation for their performance – Lady Gaga, Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Rosemund Pike.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy – Olivia Colman (“The Favourite”) *WINNER – right on point

Best performance by an Actor in a TV Series – Drama Richard Madden (“Bodyguard”) *WINNER – an interesting surprise. I assumed Jason Bateman would take this one

Best Performance by an Actress in a TV series – Musical or Comedy Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”)*WINNER – naturally

Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television Darren Criss (“The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story”) *WINNER – if you haven’t seen the series, by all means, check out Darren’s performance

What is your take on the Golden Globe, winners, best dressed and all that is celebrity

  1. Still haven’t seen Bohemian Rhapsody – but love Queen. Great pictures. I’m heading to LA to see the Grammys next month, can’t wait…should be a blast.

    • lucky you – I’ve been to the golden globes but plus a dozen movie premieres but never the Grammys or Oscars. Have a blast
