Absence May Grow The Heart Fonder

In an optimistic world, one wakes up on a Monday morning looking ahead to a balanced week – some work, some play, a lot of home cooking and enjoying many films, preferably foreign or filmed on location somewhere one might be longing to travel to. But, that isn’t always the case, because the universe usually has something different in store – especially when you least expect it. Last week, too many things reshaped my days, and I felt overwhelmed until I slowly regrouped and began figuring out a rhythm to follow.  Do you ever feel that way? When your life goes out of whack and you are left with figuring out a new way to adapt. Haha! What am I talking about – this year we’ve all had to figure out a new lifestyle. The sad thing about obstacles in life is that the first thing it does is suck the creativity out of you and hence the most creative of things become the most difficult to attain. So while I continue to readjust my …

Lifestyle: I Answered A Few Questions Just Because

I’ve been binge watching Grace and Frankie on Netflix for a week now, and have made it to season 2 episode 8. I have to say, it is one of the best shows for those worried about getting old-er or worried so much about being alone while older. This is of course, past the grown-up kids, and grand kids who stay in touch or visit often. The show resonated with me on so many levels and I just can’t stop myself from watching one episode after another. Kind of like the Golden Girls – except its not  four women struggling to get through old age, it’s unisex and the topics are a more modern take on what was shunned upon during the Golden Girls reign. Disclaimer – As you may know, I am doing much questioning about my landmark birthday coming up, so these days, veering towards topics about aging has become part of the norm  – like this one about a very sexy 74 year old fashion designer and her attitude towards a healthy …

Healthy and Beauty: Yoga Right About Now

Parts of the weekend didnt’ turn out how I expected – with my stress level elevating to highs so out-of-control that my body simply shut down. This is of course stress upon stress of every-day life and  some not-so-normal  nonsense. I realized after taking a step back and deep breaths, that I needed to re-start my yoga classes – without coming up with a dozen or more excuses that I need to be elsewhere first taking care of anyone else but myself. So the first thing I did, was add a weekly reoccurring calendar reminder for Fridays at eleven in the morning for me to simply disconnect from my life,  and go do yoga, followed by deep meditation. And naturally the internet sensing my needs, added a site for amazing yoga retreats to consider, to keep the momentum going.  Here are the ones I am seriously considering: Located in Bali, Blooming Lotus Yoga Retreat is set in an island paradise. The retreat offers daily Vinyasa Flow classes, suitable for all levels, each morning. There are …

the need to tone my body

I’ve been watching what I eat for years. This is of course, after turning 40 and realizing I’ve started to finally put on some weight. But in talking to friends, about the best method, over a few cocktails mind you, they suggested diet pills. I refused naturally, since every single addiction, has an adverse affect. Then I read the book French Women Don’t Get Fat and learned a few things, but realized I didn’t have the luxury to follow it (due to my hectic schedule).  I decided to go with Weight Watchers ready to eat meals. After losing over 17 pounds in less than 2 months and hating every bite I ate, I stopped losing weight, because I got sick. High blood pressure and ailments I had never experienced before in my life. I was completely over it. The diet food, the idea of pills, not eating, eating too much fiber. I even tried vegan and gluten-free. Some worked, others were misleading. I know what you are thinking, this is sounding too much like an …
