holiday simple decorations – no instructions needed

I am one of those people. The one who doesn’t like to read instructions on anything, especially artsy stuff. So, I normally search online for ideas, suggestions, and from it create my own crafts, or DIYs or whatever. So for Christmas, I always refer to the Scandinavian countries/bloggers mostly for traditional or warm and fuzzy ideas. I’m not a fan of modern when it comes to Christmas. So, here’s what I found and my plan to make all of this happen in the next week or so. Some are easy, some take a little more, but as you can see the pictures are just easy enough to duplicate:

easter egg decorating ideas 2014

I swear a second ago it was only Christmas and now, with a blink of an eye it’s almost Easter and aside from the religious aspect of the holiday, people take pride in coloring eggs.  And every year I tell myself that I would take the time to do just that. Color, decorate and do things over the top with a dozen eggs, tapping mostly into my artistic side.  Here are some ideas I am using to draw from. Can you guess which theme I picked for 2014? *The black and white ones will be the 2014 Easter egg color theme and since it’s an adult activity in my household, a bottle of bubbly also. {Click here for photo reference}

breathe – take a day from the holiday stress

I honestly can’t remember what’s happened. I swear it was only yesterday I was planning Thanksgiving Dinner with the families and now it’s almost Christmas. In talking to others and over hearing conversation, I discovered I am not alone in this thinking. Most everyone is as confused as I am about how quickly the holiday is approaching. So, to lighten our thoughts, relieve the anxiety, get us focused, and just plain insist that we relax,  I have decided to declare Friday December 20th, a day to just breathe, step away from the shopping frenzy and get together arguments and just find a way to truly enjoy the holiday season, and if you can’t find something in your neck of the woods (which I doubt) to inspire you, by all means stare at the photos below 🙂 {photo reference please click here and here}

untraditional thanksgiving menu

I am always looking for healthy ways to make a meal, mostly switching out the butters, fatty oils and starchy foods for the healthy alternatives. So, it’s no surprise to anyone who knows me that I came to a screeching  holt on the internet when I stumbled upon these amazing recipes  from my favorite blogger here and thanks to her, I plan to incorporate her suggestions into my untraditional Thanksgiving Day dinner party: {Click on the photo for recipes and credits}

searching for holiday spirit

This is the time of the year I frequent one mall after another to see how the stores have decorated. Don’t judge 🙂 but I do love searching for holiday spirit in public gathering places. Over the weekend, I drove to Palo Alto and walked through the outdoor Stanford Shopping Mall, just before the weather turns sour in the next few weeks. Of course, I snapped photographs along the way:
