Food: Guacamole in Abundance

I’ve been craving the strangest of foods lately. For example bbq ribs and salad. Mascarpone over fresh peaches, guacamole with slivers of fresh jalapeño, lots of watermelon and salty cheese, and finally tuna soaked in fresh squeezed lemon juice. Not all mixed together mind you. But that’s been my cravings, and no I am not pregnant. So, naturally my eyes lit up when I stumbled upon this amazing recipe I consider a meal more than a snack or appetizer:

Lifestyle: In This Sort of Mood

San Francisco is pretty dreary in the summer months, and because of it so is my mood. I don’t feel as inspired as I do when I see the sun.  The fact the days are longer, means we see the gloomy  thick layer of fog blanketing the coastline until almost nine at night, the cold forcing us to bundle up, and crave to up the heating system in the house. Oh the irony…or me just being over dramatic. Either way, I am craving for moments like this. which I’ve experienced while on the Island of Capri and Sorrento, or on a beach town somewhere in the French Riviera, simply sitting at a table along some waterfront, eating wonderful food and drinking a bottle of red, and taking it all in. Happy Monday!!!

Food: Fresh Fruit Delight

I eat summer fruits in abundance, and although I enjoy every bite of the fresh ones, I sometimes crave the cooked version. To me cooked tastes better than the ripened ones. Just yesterday I bought fresh peaches from Trader Joe, and sliced up two for a snack while I watched a film I planned to review. My face soured at the thought of them being so flavorless. So I told the hubs I planned to cook the rest of them and he gave me the side eye. Wait until he comes home tonight and sees me indulging in this bit of fresh fruit cooked to perfection plus pecans (my favorite), and oh the Crème fraîche, which the recipe recommends, and of course I won’t argue about as an advocate for healthy eating ;). But if you insist, you can replace the creme for plain yogurt of course. I simply won’t be doing that in this case (I have a weakness for Crème fraîche) and know this particular dessert would taste best that way. Here is the recipe, …

Food: Honey and Brie

Honey is something I hated most of my life. I suppose it’s because my mother forced it down my throat when I was young, every morning, to get my day started. It was  old-world traditions. Until one day, while at work trying to add sugar to my cup of tea, and discovering there wasn’t any, I turned to Honey to sweeten the drink and discovered just how much I loved it on oatmeal, over a cheesy spread, with figs, drizzled over prosciutto, and too many other ideas to list here, except this:

How To Recycle Jam Jars

I buy these jams in abundance, and spread them on freshly baked French bread every Sunday morning, and sit by the window and enjoy breakfast the only day of the week, at a much more slower pace. So, you can imagine my collection of the perfect shaped jars, I know someday I would use for a healthy dessert I’ve been searching for. but haven’t found…until NOW! Chai Seed Pudding – what!!!

Food: Two Recipes Worth A Try

This blogger I follow religiously. I guess I appreciate her success more than anything, and her seemingly carefree appearances. I miss that about myself. Anyway, there are two recipes on her site I sort of found myself drooling over, and of course the need to share. One is the Sticky Slow Roast Lamb. I am not a fan of Lamb, so I will turn this recipe into a Sticky slow roast Roast 🙂  for Easter Dinner Next up – Nutella Martini, I am going to serve my guests – not sure if before or after the roast. I usually consider such a cocktail a replacement for dessert. What are you having for Easter supper?

Interesting Finds Online While Laid Up with A Cold

I haven’t had a cold in five years, so it hit me like a BOULDER a few days ago, first day losing my voice, to coughing nonstop and feeling annoyed with the aches all over from all the coughing. I think what I don’t like the most is I can’t think straight, and feel like everything I am doing is a dream  – maybe the meds. I figured I could stare at the internet or the contents posted on the internet to keep me distracted and these are some of the finds I found interesting enough to share:

Food: Cannot Get Enough of These Healthy Suggestions

I am glad I stumbled upon this wonderful blog, since I am the worst at photographing food I make to post. Meaning I do forget to do it each time I come up with my own creation. Anyway, I found five favorites to add to my menu, changing it up a little from our healthy normal and very basic eats I have insisted upon with my family. Here are my favorites:
