fashion: haute couture – giambattista valli

I do love old-fashioned and efforts to remind us of them in recent years in fashion, decor, art and photography is most appreciated – at least for me anyway. So for the love of old-fashioned here are some of my favorites from Giambattista Valli – Fall-Winter 2014-15 collection:

fashion: valentino haute couture 2014-15

Lots happened over the weekend, too busy to detail all in one night. While I gather my notes, and upload my photos, I wanted to take today to simply think about fashion. Haute Couture to be exact. Here are some of my favorites from Valentino Haute Couture 2014-15 season: (Can you imagine the celebs who will consider these gorgeous gowns for the award season?

fashion: mid-summer shopping

I don’t usually go shopping in the summer months, but the way the weather has been in the city, of course I’m drawn indoors, unwillingly walking through the mall just to be out. Of course, Nordstrom is having their half-yearly sale I discovered, making my roaming the malls very pleasant. Here’s my latest finds: From top left to bottom right: Kate Spade dress USD595, Maggie London Jersey dress USD98, Deborah Lippman nail color USD18, Print midi-shirt in mint USD36, Roalnd ankle bottie USD187, Xenia pointy-toe pump USD79. Burberry quilted jacket USD595

fashion: cannes film festival 2014

I do have a soft spot for the Cannes Film Festival, and although I prefer the event in the classic days of film, I am on occasion impressed by the choice of gowns celebrities wear for the occasion.  From those celebs who have been photographed, I can only say, these ladies topped the best dressed list in beautiful modern classics (if you will) from top designers too many to detail here: This year’s winners in my opinion are:

shoes – mostly flats for a san francisco gal

I had a busy weekend, mostly celebrating mothers days of course, so I didn’t get a chance to catch up on my weekly blog posts. No matter. I decided to focus on shoes this morning, while I commuted to work on a warm sunny day in the city. Since most of us in San Francisco try to walk everywhere possible – well mostly in the downtown area, we consider flats our choice of shoes. Although a while ago, I used to use flats to get to work and then change into high heels. But since then, the shoe industry ‘wisened up’ enough to realize, flats can also be a sexy alternative to any outfit, and definitely more practical. So, in light of that fact, I have chosen some of my favorites from here for a not-so-dressy work wear or in our city casual dress code attire.

fashion: spring to summer transition dresses

I’d like to think we have a proper summer here in San Francisco, when buying spring/summer dresses. And although the fog rolls in at the end of May/early June, downtown where I work,  is pretty sunny and warmer than the coastal neighborhoods. So, it’s fine that I shop for these dresses but I also know, having a warm sweater around is also a must. Here are my favorite picks for someone like me who is a little conservative in my fashion sense.
