photography: heavenly thoughts
As I gaze at the heavy fog lurking throughout my neighborhood on a Monday evening after work, I cannot help but envision what heaven may look like.

I had worked in the San Francisco financial district throughout the nineties and was accustomed to seeing men in suits, then I escaped the madness of downtown and settled into a more laid back suburban workplace for a handful of years. When I returned to the financial district five years ago, I was shocked to find most work places had adopted the business casual attire or blue jeans. I have no problem with that… except I actually miss the suits and the care men took in looking sharp for their workplace. That’s all I want to say 🙂 and perhaps/maybe ask, what do you think about men in suits vs casual business attire in a workplace?
There are times, like most people of my age group, I contemplate the fact, if I were able to do it all over again what would I change. Although this adult game is mostly played over a glass of wine or two in my household with friends, I can’t help but wonder how other women feel about the question? If I could do it all over again, I would have: How about you?
I am fortunate enough to be on an event planning committee at my current place of employment,. So, when asked for venue suggestions, I immediately blurted out an Oscar themed event to honor our employees. The suggestion was approved and so here we are now in the planning stages for our red carpet event scheduled for the end of February. While we contemplated considering formal attire, the joke was, wouldn’t it be wonderful if the women could all wear gowns. Of course, being a fan of anything that has to do with the entertainment industry, I immediately went to my favorite site here and picked out what I would wear if I were to walk down the red carpet at the make shift Oscar party. Impressive huh?
I can’t believe this. I have stayed away from reading recommends because I was trying to delay the inevitable. But more and more, people are switching over to the nook, kindle and every other gadget out there as their choice for reading materials. I get the craze, but I am sad to see the paperbacks and hardbacks slowly disappear along with mom and pop bookstores. It was nice to stop staring at a computer screen for a few hours and be able to curl up on a bed or a couch and read an actual “book” but these are the times and those are our choices and although I am having a difficult time accepting it, I know eventually I will become a minority with the way I feel about it. Anyway, here are some interesting books I discovered while shuffling through the gadget category. Let me know if you have read any of them and what you think or if you would consider reading any of them sometime in the near future.
Right about now I begin to crave a trip to the French Riviera and a fantasy stay at the Hotel Martinez. I mean seriously, I don’t think I need to sell anyone on the idea of experiencing pure luxury and elegance, while getting the most golden tan possible and dining at some of the finest restaurants along the French Riviera. However, I do want to point out one of my favorite 5-star properties in Cannes, Hotel Martinez as the choice hotel for romance and special occasion celebration or simply a place for rest and relaxation. Of course the modern classic room decor doesn’t hurt either. Anyway, enjoy the photos and have a wonderful weekend.
Since I work in the financial district of a metropolitan city and live in the suburbs, I often times cannot decide whether I prefer the view of the high rise buildings from my office window or the view of the ocean from my bedroom window for my future apartment. It’s a tough choice, but one I need to make up my mind about, if I plan to move out by the end of this year. Help…
One year ago, I decided to start a blog different than my other blog here. I dabbled at first at another blogger site and after a few entries and not knowing which direction I wanted to go, I opted to join the WordPress family to get inspired. Sure enough, within a week I knew what I wanted to write about and quickly imersed myself into the project. One year later, here I am with over 50,000 hits worldwide and several hundred, subscribed loyal followers. Not bad if you ask me for a years worth of work. However, I hope year two will inspire me enough to keep the blog alive and fresh for my readers and for myself. I want to thank everyone for encouraging me to continue and praising me for a job well done. I can honestly say, if it weren’t for this blog, I would probably be working at Starbucks to get my pop culture on 🙂 With sincere appreciation, your truly Manya
As most of us Americans are programmed to finish preparing our income taxes, to turn them in by midnight the 15th of April, every year, I bet most of us don’t realize that this year we have until the 18th of April to complete them due to some observed holiday technicalities in one of our states. Either way, the rest of the world could care less and lives their lives as if it was just another day. So for the folk outside of the states and my much appreciated readers, I have put some outfits together which I, for some reason, have incorporated into my Spring to Summer 2011 wardrobe. Hope you like. Have a Great Weekend Everyone!!!
I am a movie fanatic and a complete junky of the entertainment world. What can I say, now you all know my weaknesses 🙂 So, as a child, when I got introduced to film, I began to envy my mother’s generation, because of all the gentlemanly leading men in cinema. I secretly fell in love with a few of them even though they were old enough to be my father or grandfather. When I was in my 20’s and 30’s, it seemed as if there was a gap in the entertainment industry as far as having “gentlemenly” leading men. I just didn’t think anyone could step up to the plate to those from the classic Hollywood film era. But in the last decade or so I have discovered that, I too have reached a point in life, where I can honestly say I am proud to have known a few classic and “gentlemenly” actors from my generation. Here is the list ladies and gentlemen, let me know what you think?
