Decor: Less Clutter, More Breathing Room

I added a fresh update to my studio apartment a few months ago, and just last night, while I sat on the sofa to read an assignment for a course I’m taking, I smiled at how simply peaceful and clutter free my decor choice is. Recently, I’ve been working with a friend to help streamline her beautiful San Francisco home, and although at times she has trouble  letting go of things she’s had for decades, I’m hopeful we can make it happen. Decor: Sidetracked to Decor

I don’t just travel to see the world. I travel to see how the rest of mankind decorates. 🙂 Yes I did just come up with this bit. But only to lead into how much of my travels is spent  on analyzing, appreciating and taking from the beautiful decor choices created around the globe. Decor: The Plan To Renovate On A Budget – Part I

This past few days I’ve stayed away from my computer, shifting my attention to rolling up my sleeves and getting dirty, painting, varnishing, running to Home Depot, and changing my mind on everything I started out with my renovation ideas, did a 360 and now back exactly to where I started  – in terms of colors and style and removable wallpaper. (I’ll explain later). You know the term, you live and learn. Well, this has surely been the case with this project, discovering along the way, many, many difficult obstacles, delay what I envision happen by a few extra days. Lifestyle: Downsizing A Home

I have to say I live on HGTV, watching every show, even on repeat, about choices of homes and decor options people opt for. Even the ones who ditch their 3-bedroom-2bath lifestyle to ones in tiny places. And don’t get me started on folks interested in buying islands, or moving away to one continent to the other in search for their happy place. Well, I pretty much have found my happy place, in a small studio apartment with views overlooking the ocean in San Francisco. I couldn’t ask for a better lifestyle change from our 5-bedroom, 3-bath sprawl with a pool and all in Sacramento. I do admit at first it was a struggle, with the hubs and I getting in each other’s ways and feeling as if there wasn’t enough room for all of the “stuff” we carefully kept from all the downsizing we did.
