fashion sense: tory burch pairing

The first time I was drawn to Tory Burch was because of the logo. What can I say, it happens, I mean wasn’t that the case for the Apple?  But then over the years and mostly in Europe, I have fallen in love with her fashion sense and style. So, naturally I found a few dresses for the summer here and paired it up with dress up and dress down shoes option from here and here to express my own interpretation of versatility.

boutique hotel pick – hotel brunelleschi – florence, italy

Every city around the world has it’s own unique charm appeal and although most travellers may agree Paris is probably the most charming and romantic,  parts of Italy are right up there on the list.  Florence, is of course, one of the cities in Italy I frequent and find to be a great romantic getaway.  So, in case you are contemplating an escape to Florence (a.k.a. Firenze), I recommend Hotel Brunelleschi for your stay.

vacation a.k.a holiday travel wardrobe – part 1

Every year we contemplate a handful of destinations to travel to, but end up rediscovering different parts of  Europe. We don’t mind it, in fact when we go down the list, at the end of it, we smile to one another because we know deep down Europe will always win. Anyway, I have actually become an expert traveller, in the sense that I know exactly  what I need to take and what should be left behind for a 2 week trip in most any predictable and unpredictable weather. For this year’s trip I have selected the following travel wardrobe from here and here: Colorful tops in different styles from here Jeans, Khakis and shorts and capri pants from here Comfortable dresses which do not take up too much space from here Sweaters for the evenings and chilly weather and 1 all-weather jacket just in case from here Comfortable all-day walking shoes and sandals and beach wear from here and here, since heels don’t work well on cobblestoned streets 🙂 Conservative yet sexy swim or in …

give me a moment to feel this way

I think I am at a point in my life where I don’t feel so bad because I have to go to work, nor do I look so forward to the weekend. I normally understand my place in  society and go about doing all the things I need to do and want to do. But there are times I do imagine the following: {Quote by Manya: Author of http://www.rawsilkandsaffron.wordpress.com}

healthy recipe: beet salad

I love beets and will eat anything made with beets, which means mostly all salads. I actually think I have turned everyone around me into appreciating the vegetable. There are of course health benefits to them and although I was forced to eat them as a child because of the fact and of course because my father loved them,  I now make a conscious effort to include them in my weekly diet plan without any parental threats ;). Here is yet another recipe I found and have tried t and love it as usual, so I wanted to share it with you ladies and hopefully some gents. Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think? The only thing I changed was the blue cheese, I am not a fan so I used Greek cheese, it works just as well French Roasted Beet Salad Consider serving this as a first course. And if you don’t think you like beets, try them roasted. You may just change your mind. Ingredients 1 1/2 pounds beets (4 …

gentlemen’s corner – fashion nostalgia

I had worked in the San Francisco financial district throughout the nineties and was accustomed to seeing men in suits, then I escaped the madness of downtown and settled into a more laid back suburban workplace for a handful of  years. When I returned to the financial district five years ago, I was shocked to find most work places had adopted the business casual attire or blue jeans.  I have no problem with that… except I actually miss the suits and the care men took in looking sharp for their workplace. That’s all I want to say 🙂 and perhaps/maybe ask, what do you think about men in suits vs casual business attire in a workplace?

interior decor: five things i want this summer

I know I’ve said this before, but after moving back to the city (being San Francisco) from suburbia, I decided to dwell in a small studio until I figure out what neighborhood I want to truly call home.  Actually this particular decision has inspired me to no end to finish my novel. So, while I contemplate flats or apartments, the Richmond district or Nob Hill,  view of the ocean or the rolling hills of San Francisco, I dream of making the following changes to my studio apartment:
