I was fortunate enough to disappear from the US for about three weeks in October. And I say that only because I knew the emotional state I was in required for me to step away from all that is going on here – first hand, in terms of the impending election. Never mind the police shootings, clowns, and all other natural and unnatural disasters plaguing our nation.
The time I spent in Europe was enough to help me compartmentalized all things causing the worst stress I have experience in my entire lifetime. I had a heavy workload on top of it all through the summer – covering for co-workers moving across the globe and such.
I was doing fine, until I read a New York Times article someone sent me via Facebook titled Donald Trump Voters Just Hear Me Out – detailing the million and one reasons why we need to vote NOT for Trump.
You see I’ve been keeping my opinions about the matter to myself and perhaps that is the reason I haven’t really posted anything on my blog. Because if I act as though I am oblivious to the critical matter at hand and stick to vacations, fashion, and decor – then I may come across insensitive. If I voice my opinions I may come across a mad woman, and if I keep quiet any longer I will become that mad woman. So being the passionate person that I am – I just had to say something.
This is where you pause and read the article so you can understand where I am coming from – because…. at then end of the day – we the people of the United States of America are the only ones who can actually make the differences that count. Here’s my explanation.
In my lifetime I have had women bosses and a handful of male bosses – and equally I have been inspired by some and hated others for the things that made up their characters to do the evil they chose to do. I have worked for corporations border-lining corruption, and their main focus to be only the bottom line – not at all interested in the well being of their employees. I’ve been laid off, and seen lay offs, I’ve been a homeowner and a renter. I have attended schools in the US with teachers and professors who gave a damn and some who were emotionally too unstable to shape me. I have been sexually harassed by men and a few women, lived in countless multi-cultural neighborhoods and I’ve seen my great city evolve into something that scares me now – too techy for my taste – since I fear this ‘trendy’ milestone that make up the world will ultimately destroy us all. I’ve cried with the extinction of animals, bees, and all things natural in this country – for the sake of development and control and more control. I’ve seen our country unite with the enemy only later to become the worst of adversaries. I’ve seen shady deals made across the globe, unwarranted wars take shape, and civilizations eliminated and everything in reality only for the sake of being in control of it all no matter the president – and not at all for the best interest of the Americans as they have all claimed and continue to claim. And there is more… But at the end of the day, no matter who becomes the next president of this – at one point – great country or was it a mirage – ultimately our quality of life is in our hands. We the people are the only ones who can make the differences in our work place, our schools, our worship temples and churches and communities, and most of all with our children. Education and travel is key – learn in order to exist, exist to do good, and don’t let anyone – a candidate with 30 year experience or a reality show celeb – discourage you and have you believe that you need one or the other in order to be the best that you can be and have the better of life has to offer. No one but yourself can make that happen for you and your family. Have faith and know that your life `is really in your hands.
