sigh is the word for today

I was over the moon last week when my e-book was finally released through Amazon Kindle and then over the weekend, something told me to look over the book and when I did I realized the wrong version was released. You can imagine my shock, embarrassment and heartbreak to discover such a mess, considering that is it my first book and first impressions count no doubt. So, back to square one and everything is now on hold since I’ve asked the publishing company to pull the incorrect ebooks and submit the correct version. In the meantime, since the ebooks are queued up for released through different mediums, the correction will overlap. So my suggestion, please don’t buy the book until you hear from me stating it’s a go. I sincerely apologize for this uncalculated error and hope to correct it shortly. Thanks for your patience and understanding MLKilian

three bars and a cafe – san francisco – no 2

The bars I’ve chosen this week are a little bit more scattered throughout the downtown area of San Francisco and easily accessible by public transport or a taxi for anyone staying in the area on holiday. As for the bakery, it is located in the inner Sunset area close to Golden Gate Park – more precisely at 9th and Irving. It’s definitely a good place to check out if you venture out to the park, but keep in mind it’s best to get there, early morning, when everything is freshly baked. my first novel – piazza navona

I hesitated posting a blog entry today, which I do on occasion, while thinking about the topic and then I walked into my office this morning to discover that my first novel hit Amazon Kindle  and is in queue to become available through other e-book means: iBookstore, Sony, Barnes and Nobles, Kobo, Copia, Gardners, Page Pushers and more. My first reaction of course was that I was shocked and happy and then immediately got embarrassed for the fact, people I knew were going to read my book. 🙂 Strange, very scary and at the same time invigorating. I am proud. Very happy and a little emotional. Whatever this book does in sales, I have one thing to say. I achieved a goal I set for myself and fulfilled a dream. Now I can smile every single day, for the rest of my life.

interior decor: pop of color

I have always used one extreme color in my decor style of mostly neutral tones, with the intention to change it up each year. The very last time I incorporated a few sharp or edgy colors, tying them in so perfectly that I haven’t had to change it up at all. In light of my crazy eclectic decorating style, I have to say I have also fallen in-interest with the options below: {photo credit, click here}

ten best cities in the world – conde nast traveler

I have to repeat, I love traveling and also love it when I find an article taking a vote about traveling, like the one here about the Ten Best Cities In The World.  It’s hard to make such an assumption or conclusion when each city in varying  destinations around the world, has it’s own charm, beauty and personality (if you will) and can in no way  be measured against another. I get it some places are dodgy and lack character, but to title an article TEN BEST CITIES IN THE WORLD versus SOME OF THE BEST CITIES IN THE WORLD is, in my opinion, bias (never mind the fact, I have been to each and every one of them on the list and agree to some extent 🙂 ). But in any case,  just to apease the curious, here are the 10 cities per the Conde Nast Traveler article to be dubbed the best:   {photo and article credit, click here}

healthy recipe: vegan pumpkin pie

On this Halloween day, I decided to share a healthy recipe I found here, mostly to make myself feel better for not running to the office candy jar at the receptionist’s desk for a fix or showing up to a conference room full of sugary treats in celebration of. I decided to remain focused and persevere 🙂 no matter how challenging the task. vegan mini pumpkin pies Yield: approx. 6-8 3-inch mini pies Ingredients for the filling: 1 cup original Almond Breeze Almond Milk 3 tablespoons corn starch 1/4 cup maple syrup 1 cup canned pumpkin puree 1 tablespoon coconut oil 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon allspice 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon salt optional – 2 more teaspoons maple syrup for the pies: this recipe for vegan pie dough crushed pecans for garnish optional-coconut whip, or whipped topping of choice Instructions Make your pie dough and set it in the fridge to chill while you make the filling. (note-leave in the fridge if you’re not going to assemble pies right away. Dough will …

photography by a blogger

These days there is no clear definition of great photography since anyone, and everyone dabbles in the hobby or not. As long as a photograph touches someone, or inspires them in some way and speaks volumes just by the image shot through a lens, it’s an effective piece of artwork, for sure at first glance. I’ve taken photoraphs since my father bought me my first camera at eleven, so I have always carried a camera with me wherever I went. Not so much since my iPhone (I know), but I haven’t stopped taking photographs no matter what. Here are some images I captured while walking about San Francisco’s SOMA district during my lunch hour. elle decor inspired interior decor

Lately we’ve been considering purchasing a condo in a high rise in San Francisco. You know those buildings popping up everywhere in downtown, which my hubby loves and I consider a glass bubble – those ones. Well, in light of this bit of new development in our life, I decided to seek inspiration on decorating a home with no real walls.  I found some ideas to copy here and have included them on my blog to seek opinion.

danville california day trip

I do step away from San Francisco mostly in the fall months. I suppose I gravitate to smaller towns, just because I crave during this time of the year the good old-fashioned way of living, which really doesn’t exist in San Francisco.  You know, family friendly neighborhoods,  picket fences, colorful trees, a small half a mile long street considered a down town. No major chain stores and the best part an actual neighborhood bookstore, where you can walk in and quietly look over the shelves for that perfect novel to read. I chose going to Danville over this weekend, because of the Danville Fall Festival and I insisted that mother tag along. She fought me at first, being too tired and all, but I insisted and we went to spend a relaxing day being simply simple in the countryside. I couldn’t ask for a better day.
