healthy eating: israeli or mediterranean salad – a twist to salsa and chips

I took a couple of days off to run inland just to see sun and visit with a  very special person in my life. The only trouble going from 50degree foggy weather to a 102degree muggy hot dry weather is that I, not only don’t want to do anything, but I also don’t want to eat. So to solve the eating dilemma, the first thing we do was go to the market and buy fruits and vegetables to make salads , which would last us throughout my visit plus a couple of days more.  Before the market and while I waited for her to wake up in the morning,  I scrolled through my favorite recipes to see what I want to try next. I came across this recipe and decided to try it. It reminds me of fresh salsa, which I love to eat with tortilla chips. So what I plan to do is, instead of tortilla chips,  eat them with toasted pita chips to stay in tune with the mediterranean theme. Israeli Salad  Try to …

interior decor – setting a high standard of living

While traveling, I often visit museums, designer stores and historic palaces and fall madly inlove with the luxurious interior decor which in theory can only be appreciated from afar, unless of course you are royalty. So, to get my spirits up while running from one meeting to another to discuss issues which will never get resolved, I find a few seconds in between to sit at my desk and click through some of my favorite inspirational interior decor.

blogging should be an outlet – don’t you think?

When I discuss the fact I blog, the first question I am asked is, “oh really, about what?” So I tell them I have two blogs, one about films and the other about being over 40 and appreciating the finer things in life.  They usually nod and I try to read into their reactions and although, a few pretend they are interested to hear more about the contents, the real reason behind their initial inquiry is to understand mostly how I find the time to blog. I tell them I make time. They ask “but why don’t you blog about something important or mind boggling?” Funny you ask that, I thought it was important, well mostly to me anyway, could it be possible that most of us blog because we need an outlet? The next question is: “Yeah but there are so many bloggers, how do you stay competitive?” I think to myself: Good question, is there a reason I need to stay competitive, if I am simply blogging to have an outlet. “But what about real life …

boutique hotel pick – Hôtel La Résidence De La Pinède -St. Tropez, France

St. Tropez is a destination I include in  every trip to France. Although it is  very difficult and time consuming to get to the small fishing village from most anywhere in the world, it is truly a wonderful place to experience when daydreaming about the high life. I normally stay in Nice and take a train to Saint Raphael and then a bus to St. Tropez, totalling approximlately 2-3 hour travel time. It is the most ecnomical way to get there but also the longest, especially if there is traffic during the high season (May-Sept/Oct). There are also ferrys leaving from Nice and Cannes and Saint Rapael, but I have found those to be an inconvinience due to their unpredictable schedules (plus I cannot deal with motion sickness very well) There is also driving along the Riviera in a rental car and without traffic you can reach St. Tropez within an hour and half from Cannes. Of course having your very own personal yatch also helps, but that is a story for another day.   The most …

olympic fever – london 2012

For more reasons than one, I planned several years back to be at the Summer olympics in London. But, as usual life dictated otherwise, so my trip to the UK has been postponed for exactly a month after the Olympic games are over. In the meantime, I am spending my evenings catching up on the highlights instead of my blogs.  So, I promise to be right back in the next few days to continue discussing most anything and everything inspiring that I could think of. 🙂
