just a second i am having a fashion designer moment

One of the best thing that could happen to a woman is the fact, she either lives in a metropolitan city or has access to it within a 30mile radius. I happen to be very fortunate in that I live in San Francisco and although our fashion sense isn’t anything to brag too much about (don’t hate me locals) I love walking through union square to window shop and occasionally treat myself to some of my favorite fashion designers. Just thought I’d share that with you 🙂

interior design: the likeable modern

I always go back and forth on modern design when it comes to interior design and decorating.  The reason I do that is because I think a home should seem less clinical and more endearing and also because since most work places are going in that direction, there should be a separation of work and what we’d like to call home. Anyway, to make my long story short, I am still on the fence, but that’s okay, I am entitled to my opinion. In the meantime, while I contemplate the style or the trend, I want to share a few of my favorites from here:

c’est un rouge – the color of red

Back in the 90’s I wore red lipstick and red nail polish, but since Sex In The City aired on television, we, I mean women over 40 have evolved along with the cast in choosing lighter shades of pink and nude to “cover up our age” Lately however, I envy the red, which is back in fashion (perhaps silently  it never left)  and wonder if I can still support the look. Any comments from the over 40 crowd?

mother’s day gift idea 2012: wrap her in scarf

The French woman’s staple piece to any outfit is a scarf and no matter the season, I am almost certain French women over 40 have a silk scarf tucked away in their bags, just in case the weather gets chilly. For places like San Francisco, where I am from, there is definitely a need for scarves during  every season of the year. So, it’s no surprise that I would most certainly recommend the gift idea.  The fact I think I was a Parisian in a past life is also a major factor in suggesting the gift. Here are some of my favorites:

mother’s day gift ideas 2012: destination spa getaways

What mother wouldn’t appreciate a destination spa getaway. Since this gift idea is a bit costly, I suggest the family pitching in for the spa fund instead of buying separate gifts for their mother. For some interesting destination spa getaways and more, please click here:

modern mother’s day gift idea 2012: accessorizing the watch wrist

I have to admit I’ve worn several bracelet on my watch wrist, oh probably for over twenty years (even before it was fashionable) and I will continue to wear them for the rest of my life (even when or if they go out of fashion). I really honestly can’t see my watch wrist with just a watch, so I figured any modern mother would appreciate accessorizing their watch wrist as much as I do. So, gentlemen, sons and daughters please take note for what I am about to suggest from my favorite department store:

boutique hotel pick – tharroe of mykonos, greece

Right about now, exactly right now, I am seeing myself in a far away place, where I could nap alongside the pool, or sit on a lounge chair on the balcony of my suite and watch the world go by and just maybe make an effort to leave the hotel just to experience the nightlife on the island of Mykonos, Greece. To make this happen, I have to include one of my favorite hotels on Mykonos – Tharroe Of Mykonos, to set the stage for one of the most relaxing holidays/vacations imaginable.  BTW this would make a wonderful Mother’s Day gift:

fashion: inspiring necklines

While choosing a gown, dress or even a simple top, one important part I take into consideration is the neckline. If the neckline isn’t right for my body type, I forgo the entire piece no matter how beautiful. Believe it or not choosing the wrong neckline will only become the focal point of a fashion disaster, unless of course you are Lady Gaga or Madonna or Rihanna or {fill in the music artist}. You get my point. With that said, I have included some inspiring necklines. Which is your favorite?

healthy maybe recipe: lemon almond coconut ice cream sandwich

I normally don’t indulge in ice cream and only eat gelato in Italy, so when I came across an ice cream sandwich here with lemon, almonds and coconut, I figured it would be as healthy eating as I wanted it to be. A girl should be able to cheat once in a while on a diet plan. Anyway, I figured since I don’t have the patience to make my own coconut ice cream, I can find some at the grocery store, but the cookie part, I have no problem making.  Check it out: coconut ice cream 1 can coconut milk, preferably full fat 3 tablespoons maple syrup 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract pinch of salt In a small bowl or liquid measuring cup, whisk together the coconut milk, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt. Process according to your ice cream maker manufacture’s instructions. Place in a freezer safe container and allow to freeze for at least 3-4 hours before assembling the sandwich cookies. lemon almond cookies 2 1/2 cups almond flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 …
