how neutral is your fashion sense?

Don’t get me wrong, I love color, but even though that is the case, I tend to shop for neutrals more so than any other color. I love the sensibility of it, the fact no matter how the industry shifts  from one trend  to another, you can always be sure neutrals are somewhere in there, year after year after year. So, for that, I have included some of my latest favorite finds from here, which as usual I plan to duplicate this coming fall season: 1.Dress: Michael Kors Double Faced Angora and wool blend dress 1955USD 2.Sweater: Maison Martin Mangiela Wool/Silk blend cardigan 850USD 3.Bag: YSL Envelope Clutch 645 4.Shoes: Miu Miu Crystal Embellished patent leather 620USD 5.Sunglasses: Ilestreva Leonard Round Framed Acetata glasses 165USD 6.Earings: Monica Vinader Mini Luna Almond GP 335USD 7.Bracelet: Philippe Audibert Queens GP beaded cuff 505USD 8.Necklace: Mallarino Dalila 24K vermeil 925USD

i don’t know how she does it – with sarah jessica parker

Well I couldn’t pass up writing about the film I Don’t Know How She Does it, because being a multi-tasking woman myself, I sometimes ask myself “I Don’t Know How I Do It” and I am sure many of you do as well. Finally, and I repeat, finally a film about the realities of a working woman’s life in America and most any where else in the world embracing the same lifestyle as we do here. Anyway, without saying much, watch the trailer so you can see where I am coming from and considering it is Sarah Jessica Parker in the starring role, I am certain the film will put a dent at  the box office. What do you think, will you see the film?

burlingame avenue, burlingame, ca: a road trip from san francisco

A quick escape from San Francisco “summer time” dreary weather is Burlingame, CA, about 20 or so miles south of the city. There are many ways of getting there,  by car, by train and by bus. The best day to be on Burlingame Avenue is Saturday after 10a.m., when all the locals, dressed in their casual attire, gather their babies, dogs and elderly parents and walk about the area just to have a family outing. Of course I  go to Burlingame Avenue in Burlingame once a month during the summer months,  and after having an extended breakfast early in the morning  at Crepevine or Stacks, I do some shopping throughout most of the day and then either eat an early dinner or have a light snack before I return to my foggy and cold city. This past weekend,  I discovered a really great eatery, called Urban Bistro, while I was walking towards Crepevine for a brunch get together with some friends. I called everyone and asked them to join me at Urban Bistro just to …

healthy eating: eggplant parmesan revamped

One of the things I dread the most, is today’s over the top health conscious society. The fact that if you order (in a restaurant) or shop for fatty foods, everyone around you become judgemental and you, as a result, feel guilty for even considering the option. Well, I happen to  I love eggplant parmesan but haven’t made it or even ordered it in a restaurant for over a year or so.  While commuting home, I  decided to search online for a healthy version of the recipe so that I could actually serve it up without feeling guilty about it. Check  out below or click  here for the recipe I came across and can’t wait to try this weekend: OLD WAY OF MAKING E.P. 1,053 calories per serving 30.4 grams saturated fat 1,965 milligrams sodium Deep-fried eggplant Breadcrumbs 4+ pounds cheese HEALTHY WAY  318 calories per serving 8.2 grams saturated fat 655 milligrams sodium Baked breaded eggplant Whole-wheat panko 1 3/4 pounds cheese Panko Breading Technique: Step 1 Give the eggplant slices a quick dip in …

an apartment floor plan with character

A floor plan, well at least for me, has to flow just right before I can consider it a home. The most important musts:  huge windows (French Doors if at all possible), well lit,  hardwood floors, a kitchen with character and aesthetically pleasing color coordination throughout the entire apartment. So, with that said,  I am hoping to find an apartment  with all the characteristics and charming details as in the collage of photos I put together above.

zipper frenzy from victoria beckham

I stumbled upon these dresses, from Victoria Beckham,  while shopping here and I must say, she was definitely thinking about her own figure when she designed (or had a say so in designing) these dresses. They are lovely, very conservative from the front and  a touch of sexy from the back. What do you think?  Is this something you would consider for your fall wardrobe?

a sentimental day

Looking back, I have been told, is never a good thing, but once in a while I find myself having the need to look back thirty plus years,  just to escape the complexities of today’s world. The funny thing is, as my mind  reflects on  most of my amazing childhood,  I subconsciously or perhaps just by pure accident come across  online photographs  which, I could have sworn, were taken from a time during my childhood. You see my parents, along with the entire clan on my father’s side and sometimes my mothers went on picnics in the mountains of a place where I was born, but back then I had no idea how precious those days were, I simply took them for granted and played about without a care in the world. Fast forward to my adult life and the need to escape the daily chaos, I spend a good amount of time reflecting on those amazing moments and when I come across a photograph which reminds me of that time, I add it to …

healthy eating: spinach, strawberry, walnut and parmesan salad

Lately, since the weather has been so cold and gray in San Francisco, I have done nothing but search for comfort food to get me by. Even though I maintain healthy eating habits, for some strange reason, this “summer” I crave what is not that good for me or maybe it is, depending on how you are looking at it. Anyway, I decided to turn to my favorite site here, for a salad recipe, hoping it would inspire me enough to get back to what’s really good for me, even if we haven’t seen the sun or felt the warmth of the summer for the last 60+ days 🙂 Spinach Salad with Strawberry, Walnut, and Parmesan Shavings Recipe and photos by For the Love of Cooking.net Walnut pieces, toasted Baby spinach Strawberries, sliced Parmesan cheese shavings 2 tbsp light olive oil or canola oil 1 1/2 tbsp aged balsamic vinegar Sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste I actually loved it and what the best thing is, it is very easy to make.  Let …

fall 2011 fashion trends – grays and neutrals

You may consider my taste in fashion very conservative and safe, but that wasn’t always the case. In my 20s and 30s I preferred bold colors, minis and all things daring to create my fashion statement. However, while on the other side of 40, I still occasionally dabble with daring, but overall  prefer to stay with the most neutral of colors to make my fashion statement. With that said, here is another outfit I put together from here, which I plan to duplicate very shortly.
